Launch Addiction: Reality TV Meets Internet Marketing?

I actually just heard of Launch Addiction yesterday from Howie himself as he sent out an email to all his JV partners and affiliates and in his email he claims Launch Addiction will be “revolutionary”. Of course we know how marketers can get, marketers are marketers and this sort of bravado is common but I did go check it out and much to my surprise, Launch Addiction does offer something new.

I will not hide the fact that I am also going to be promoting this launch and my reasons are simple:

• it is going to be a first of its kind
• it raises the curtain on a subject covered in mystery … how the guru’s develop and launch their products

But before anything else if you are reading this before launch day, Howie is right now offering a free video on the site www.launchaddiction.com which reveals an actual conversation between Howie and his project manager as they discuss sensitive and otherwise confidential information, planning out their next move and talking about a product.

This conversation is uncut, unscripted, unpolished and with a sprinkling of expletives, I’d have to say this recording would have to be the Frost/Nixon of the internet marketing world. Think about it, the man’s guilty of dominating Google!

So what is being offered in Launch Addiction that I dare say it is a first of its kind.

Well, first of all, I love reality TV… its raw, uncut, spontaneous and you cannot predict what could happen next. Unlike scripted shows, reality TV has certain elements that are beyond your control. Truth is, I am also partial to such because I used to produce local reality TV shows myself, but I digress.

Some months ago there was a similar internet marketing related reality TV show which was hosted by, and likely produced as well, by Joel Comm.  The thing about this show and other reality TV shows is, while production is live and shot as live, there is still a measure of editing that is done.

Now I don’t know about you, but I believe product development to be a very important phase, a phase which actually decides the success or failure of a product. The gurus are a little touchy about this subject and would rather remain vague, I mean sure… why reveal what puts money on their table… but more like why divulge what makes them buy their Ferraris and yachts that they like rub in our faces.

So here comes Howie Schwartz and his team, putting together a product, and you watching at ringside to see and note every details every aspect of the process, everything that they do… won’t that be the ultimate reality TV show that you would gladly pay a premium price for? Plus, replays are instantly available, so you don’t miss a thing. Shooting.. or should I say, streaming starts on December 18.
